The Real Value of Being in a Team
68
Teamwork is always valued.
But why is that?
What is it about a group of organised individuals working together, that is so much better than single individuals trying to achieve some goal on their own?
We are all the same....
The thing about humans is that we are all basically similar, with the odd minor variation.
In general We all have the same body parts and bodily functions, the same physical and emotional needs.
We also have the same needs to feed and shelter our families, nurture our young, and knock sense into our teenagers.
We have old age to think about, annoying or awesome realtives.....etc...etc...
We have common bonds and these for the basis of making bonds between us
In general we are more likely to work together for the common goal of a community than for our own personal reward... EMPATHY
EMPATHY
Is this main route by which we will eventually solve the problems of the world?
Only when we become truely concious of our common bonds can we really work togther.
Then the "team" becomes the community.
We are all different...
The other thing about humans is that we are all uniquely different.
We all have different and special skills. Some are brilliant in a particular areas and some are brilliant in others.
One the flipside, some of us are really bad at some things, and it's then that we need support from others.
Some of us are great communicators, coordinators and generalists and are there to hold the team together.
We all have different skills to celebrate and also things that we just can't do (sometimes just because we need someone to teach us)
In general we are more likely to work together to fill in the gaps between our individual skills to build something that is so much more...SYNERGY
Creating synergy with diversity
The advantages of having so many different views are inumerable, as long as the main goals are kept in sight.
Value people for who they are and they will always repay you.
So how do we build a team...?
We pick the best specialized people for the job.
We pick people with the skills that will help us meet our goals for example:
- Legal Experts
- Financial Wizards
- Communications Experts
- Designers and engineers
- Technical Associates
- Quality experts
- Project and Administrative support staff
- Customer Support Staff
- Housekeeping staff
Remember to be inclusive all team members are important
EVERYONE IS VALUABLE
How to help the team perform at its best?
We keep them informed to the best of our ability.
We nuture them, by mentoring and supporting their education.
We give them a safe positive environment to explore their creativity.
We enourage them and reward them well for all achievements and goals met.
We give only creative criticism and put forward solutions to common problems (not everyone is good at everything).
We consider their families, and their health.
We treat the team like we would like to be treated - after all we ARE the team
COMPASSION

Hi catsimmons, it sounds easy enough and I agree with you why can't happy and healthy workers be the result every time? the ideas aren't that complicated!
Excellent hub, really enjoyed this thank you for sharing.
Hi Catsimmons, I think it's great when each person in a team can bring different skills and strengths to completing a task at hand. Your hub was an excellent read!
